SHE'S A LIBERATED LADY GORILLA

Queen Kong is one of the most infamous fantasy films of all time - a roles-reversed comedy version of the King Kong story in which a giant female gorilla is captivated by an effeminate hippy named Ray Fay. Produced in 1976 and intended as a cash-in on that year's blockbuster remake of King Kong - produced by Dino De Laurentiis - this little spoof movie bit off more than it could chew when De Laurentiis took the film-makers to court.

Apart from a brief theatrical release in Italy, home of director Frank Agrama, Queen Kong remained unseen for the next 25 years until it suddenly emerged - unexpectedly - in cinemas in Japan, followed shortly thereafter by an American DVD release. Finally, in 2003, the movie received its British theatrical premiere - only 27 years late.

Queen Kong's combination of rubbish comedy, cheesy musical numbers and cut-price special effects has enchanted, appalled but mostly amazed those who have seen it. The film has a cast of well known British actors and actresses, supported by a bevy of glamour models and dancers. Some of them even admit to having been involved in this infamous picture.

Queen Kong Lives! is the web's only fansite for this unique movie and is intended as both a resource, pooling all known information on the film, and a tribute. A tribute to the movie, to the cast and crew who made it, to the sheer silliness of the whole thing and to the wonderful way that this ridiculous little film has survived against all the odds.
