MISCELLANEOUS INTERVIEWS

Sandra Exelby, hair stylist:
“I only worked on it for three weeks before I was removed for not holding a Film Hairdressers ticket but it doesn’t seemed to have stopped me - been in the industry over 30 years.”

Rula Lenska in a BBC on-line chat, February 2003
Were you really in the 1976 classic B Movie Queen Kong?
“Yes I was. I thought that that film had died its death. It was embargoed for life. I now hear that it has surfaced as a cult film in Japan of all places. My character's name was Luce Habit!”

Valerie Leon interviewed by Jonathan Sothcott
Queen Kong was next - I presume that this was all shot in a studio?
“Yes it was.”
The film was never released in Britain after Dino DeLaurentiis' injunction, but was the threat of this looming over the production?
“I wasn't aware of it at the time.”
What was working with Robin Askwith like?
“He was very friendly and a great laugh.”

Peter Richardson, special effects:
“Good Grief! You must be kidding - I can't remember what I did a year ago, never mind 27 years ago! I have been racking my brains about the film and as you can guess it was LOW budget and probably a tough project because of that. Sometimes the brain switches off and doesn't want to remember.

“I know we serviced the film from BBRK because we were based in Shepperton Studios at the time running E/F & G stages along with the scene dock, plasterers shop etc. We were a group of set designers and I handled the special effects. But as I said, I can't remember anything about the production - complete blank!”
